Mae Martin
Mae Martin is a British-Canadian writer and stand-up comedian who most recently won a Canadian Screen Award for her writing on Canada’s CBC hit all-female comedy series Baroness Von Sketch Show.
Mae regularly hosts her own stand-up nights in venues across London and on UK television, she has performed on the BBC3’s showcase for new comedy talent ‘Live At the BBC’. It was Mae’s appearance as the stand-up guest on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) that first catapulted her into the consciousness of the UK’s online teen community. The clip gathered thousands of views on YouTube, and Mae has emerged as a bright new role model for nervous teens everywhere, gaining a vast and engaged social media following (40,000 followers across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram).
In Mae we now have comedy’s most naturally charismatic young storyteller. She finds her punch lines in thoroughly unlikely places – combining wickedly astute social observation with nostalgic references to her pseudo-anguished past
